Tayler Sundermann - Co-Founder
Hello! My name is Tayler and I’m a student at the University of Nebraska studying mechanical engineering. I have been heavily involved in startups and entrepreneurship since the age of 11. I had spent $300 on itunes in a month and my father foreclosed my Ipod. Over the next three weeks I developed a door to door sales technique painting curbs. In 20 days I had made all the money back. At 14 with my brother and dad we began manufacturing “polish horseshoes” lawn games calling our game ‘Disc Sticks’. Later that year I started Activity Coins a custom challenge coin reseller. In the winter of 2014 I met co-founder Josie Jensen and we created a plan based on one of my ideas, in that dorm room “Put A Sock In It” was born. This organization is my way to give back to as many people as I can, changing lives, and hopefully, changing the world.
Josie Jensen - Co-Founder
Hi, my name is Josie Jensen! I am a native of Omaha, Nebraska and a student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. I love working with people and doing crossword puzzles! All over the UNL campus hang posters that say “Your Story Matters”. This idea has been ingrained in my mind, so I want to make sure that everyone’s story gets the chance to be heard. A few weeks before Tayler Sundermann shared his brilliant nonprofit idea with me, I visited Denver for a conference. At the conference, they encouraged us to abandon our comfort zones and truly connect with others. We put this into practice by talking to the homeless around downtown Denver. After listening to their stories, I was heartbroken. Some were shunned by their communities and lost all hope for a better future. I want to connect with these people and help them realize their stories matter. I hope Put A Sock In It will be a way for people to receive the help they need, share their stories, and spread a little joy.
Sarah Porath - Secretary of the Board of Directors
Sarah Porath here! I have lived in Lincoln, Nebraska my whole life, so going to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln was a no brainer! I am studying Electrical Engineering with a minor in Energy Science. However, I have a huge passion to helping others as well! I have traveled on two mission trips to St. Louis, Missouri and Denver, Colorado, where I had an eye opening experience for the conditions individuals live in day to day. Plus I have volunteered numerous times around my hometown. When Tayler Sundermann contacted me about this amazing opportunity, I couldn’t say yes quick enough. I had so many mismatched socks around my room, I felt like this was the perfect non-profit organization for me. Being able to be a part of this organization from the beginning, has been unbelievable. I can not wait to see where this organization goes, and all the lives we are going to impact.
